Description: The National Seal Sanctuary in Cornwall invites you to a close encounter with a pair of Californian sea lions this year. See Rocky and Pepper in their amazing new surroundings as they get up to all sorts of antics. Also featuring in our brand new Sea Lion Lagoon is a pair of Patagonian sea lions who also have some crazy habits for you to enjoy.
Rocky our blind Californian Sea Lion has been joined this year by two younger playmates…a pair of male Patagonian Sea Lions. The newcomers have swapped the sweltering Costa. Blanca for the picturesque Helford estuary to ease overcrowding at their former sanctuary home in Benidorm. We’re sure the three of them will get along swimmingly in our spectacular Sea Lion Cove.
See animal welfare in action at Europe’s busiest seal rescue centre. Our animal care team work around the clock with sick or injured seal pups in the seal hospital. Some of the most beautiful and most primitive of the ocean’s inhabitants will take centre stage in Great Yarmouth’s new feature Jellies. With recent invasions of even some tropical jellyfish into British waters, this feature is sure to attract a lot of attention. Meet our cheeky Asian short-clawed otters and enjoy a close encounter of the marine kind at the Cornish Coast Experience, where visitors can meet some of the inhabitants from our own local shores. Set on the beautiful Helford River estuary this has to be one of the most picturesque settings in the country. It’s a wonderful day out for the whole family.
The National Seal Sanctuary has rescued many seals over the years, and most are well enough to be released back into the wild after treatment, but some seals, for various reasons, would not survive back in the wild, so we have them as our guests at the Sanctuary. In addition to the Grey and Common Seals, they have Fur Seals and Californian & Patagonian Sea Lions. The Sanctuary also provides a much-needed haven for a variety of other animals, such as Otters, Ponies and Goats. Occasionally the Sanctuary's facilities and expertise are called upon to aid in the rescue of other marine creatures such as Dolphins and Turtles.
Entry ticket valid all day
Free Safari Bus (Summer season only)
Feeding demonstrations throughout the day
Well behaved dogs, on a lead, are always welcome at the Sanctuary.
